My name is Michaela Day.

I’m an accessories designer and graduate student in New York City.

I’m currently available for work.

I'm a New York City–based designer with roots on the Jersey Shore—still a Jersey girl at heart. Growing up surrounded by sun, sand, and Springsteen gave me an early appreciation for bold style, great music, and the local community.

I studied Fashion Design and Merchandising at Ocean County Vocational Technical School, then earned my Bachelor’s in Fashion Design from Thomas Jefferson University, where I honed my skills in both aesthetics and function.

For the past two years, I’ve worked as an Accessories Designer at Fownes Brothers, creating for multiple brands—most notably Roxy—where I developed a deep love for merging brand identity with trend-forward design. Whether it’s beach-ready straw hats, cold-weather gear, or even slippers, I’m all about pieces that tell a story and elevate the everyday.

When I’m not designing, you can find me curled up with a blanket and a book, handmaking gifts for friends and family, or enjoying a coffee in the sun.

Today, I am a graduate student at the Fashion Institute of Technology. I am currently studying Museum Practice and expect to graduate by 2028. I continue to design accessories on a freelance basis, expanding my knowledge in the ever-changing industry.

My work is inspired by the life I’ve lived—from the beaches of the Jersey Shore to the buzz of the city. I draw from the people around me, the art and literature I love, music, history, food, and the rich layers of culture—past and present—that connect us all.
